Road Trip Through Iran – Bandar Abbas

Cruizing along the highway, windows down, music up… August is the perfect month for a road trip!  Alright I admit, we might not be able to physically road trip through Iran, but we can certainly ‘pray through’ Iran.

While our team on the ground dedicates these next 10 days to proclamation, teaching, and intercession, let’s join them in a 10-day prayer road trip through Iran.  #livedeadiran

Prayer for Bandar Abbas

Bandar Abbas is a key trading port that sits on the Straight of Hormuz.  The city’s location provides strategic, easy access to the other nations located along the Persian Gulf: Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai & Abu Dhabi included).  To the East, the straight opens up to Oman, Pakistan, and India.  Such close proximity to international markets makes Bandar Abbas a major shipping and trade hub.

Our prayer for Bandar Abbas is based out of Psalm 107.  The Psalmist encourages the Lord’s redeemed to tell their salvation stories and recount God’s faithfulness towards them.  Today, we pray Psalm 107:23-32 over the traders and boatsmen from Bandar Abbas.  Pray with us that they will encounter the Lord Almighty and experience His salvation.  One day, they too will boldy tell their redemption stories and give thanks to God.

“Others went to sea in ships,
conducting trade on the vast waters.
They saw the Lord’s works,
His wonderful works in the deep.
He spoke and raised a tempest
that stirred up the waves of the sea.
Rising up to the sky, sinking down to the depths,
their courage melting away in anguish,
they reeled and staggered like drunken men,
and all their skill was useless.
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and He brought them out of their distress.
He stilled the storm to a murmur,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
They rejoiced when the waves grew quiet.
Then He guided them to the harbor they longed for.
Let them give thanks to the Lord
for His faithful love
and His wonderful works for all humanity.
Let them exalt Him in the assembly of the people
and praise Him in the council of the elders.”

Psalm 107:23-32 (HCSB)
