The Start

Thank you for joining us in prayer for Iran last week! Let’s give praise to God for hearing our prayers, seeing our fast, and responding with a river of Salvation and healing that gives life to Iran’s barren land. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for encouraging our Iranian brothers and sisters, giving the Church a new sense of unity and humility, and igniting a passion for the lost. All glory to Jesus!

This is what the Lord says:
“Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom,
or the powerful boast in their power,
or the rich boast in their riches.
But those who wish to boast
    should boast in this alone:
that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord
    who demonstrates unfailing love
and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth,
and that I delight in these things.
I, the Lord, have spoken!” (Jeremiah 9:23-24 NLT)

Two years ago, we didn’t speak Farsi. We were barely comfortable with the greetings and were new to this Live Dead team. Nevertheless, we met a couple that Nowruz (Iranian New Year) and shared the Gospel with them. Since we didn’t know Farsi and their English was limited, we quickly connected them with one of our Iranian friends for further questions and discipleship. The couple began following Jesus and walking in obedience to Him. They grew in their faith while continuing to live in Iran.

Fast forward a year and a half…

The couple came back to our city to be baptized! We had the honor of witnessing their open declaration of faith in Jesus through baptism. During this visit, we were able to share about church planting movements. We prayed over them and empowered them to go back to Iran and start new churches. AND THEY DID. Soon after they returned to Iran, we received word that they had planted their first church and had already met 3 times! They sensed the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in their gatherings. Now, we continue to train them in multiplication – the start of a church planting movement.

It is always humbling to be a part of these stories. God is at work in Iran, and we are grateful for opportunities to plant and water the seed. We boast in Jesus Christ, who prepares the soil and makes the seed grow. He will bring about multiplication so that one day soon, we will see church planting movements throughout Iran. Thank you for continuing to pray with us!
