A Call

Adam recently visited Central Eurasia with a team from Master’s Commission. His heart for this part of the world, and his ability to make everyone around him smile are just a few of the many reasons we would have liked to keep him.
Five times a day 19 million people in Central Eurasia’s largest city hear the call to pray for the Muslim faith.
Five times a day.
Five times a day, I am reminded to pray. To pray that God would equip me. Equip me to share my faith and connect with the people here. Connect to someone with a different culture and different language.
With 19 million people, the task seems unbearable. In these moments, I am thankful to not be alone, and I am reminded of God’s promises “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” (Ephesians 4:12). And in Hebrews, He will “equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen” (Hebrews 13:21).
God has called all of us to reach those who do not yet know Him. Jesus said to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, but I believe Christians can still feel lost in direction (not hope) when they do not finish the last calling and command to love your neighbor as yourself. Something will always feel missing until we respond to that call.
Love Your Neighbor
Today, I found my neighbor in a coffee shop. He started a small shop here a month ago. While listening to his story, we talked about his relationship with God. We spoke for a period of 30-40 minutes on a multitude of topics, and I would love to say that he gave his heart right there, but instead we asked if we could pray with him. We prayed for Jesus to bless him and his business. We prayed that Jesus would come upon his life and heart. And then said “Amen.” At that point all I could do is look up into his eyes. He was very grateful and invited us to return again.
A call comes to us everyday. Not just five times a day, but every time we come in contact with another person.
To reach and impact the one. There is no greater calling than that.
“I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,” – Philippians 3:10 NIV
