A Speed the Light Miracle

Have you heard the expression “Boots on the Ground?” Well our Live Dead Missionaries are the boots on the Silk Road. Here we’d like to take a moment and allow one of them to share part of their life with you. Some names and details have been changed, but this is a true story from this colorful, vibrant, and sometimes surprising region and those who God has called to work here.
Five months ago, a beautiful young woman from a Middle Eastern country became our friend. We invited her to explore with us, hang out with us and meet others who needed friends and family as much as she did.
Those lonely feelings, away from people they love, can make depression and anxiety a constant companion for young foreigners in our country. Passport and visa issues, hopelessness, job worries and relationship problems bring instability, restlessness and frustration. Their religion has been pushed upon them, tried as best they could, but didn’t deliver the hope they long for.
On the evening before we were flying out for our furlough in America, we got a text from Namah lamenting the fact that we were going to be gone for so long, that she really needed wisdom and prayer and that she was hopeless. She had shed more tears the last three months than she ever thought she could. She needed help.
Light Breaks In
We had talked to her about Jesus before, but this was different. She was hungry for help and a solution. As we quickly worked out our schedule to make time to meet with her, she arrived to find hugs, tears and much needed love from us. We had a tea and we listened. We had another tea and we talked about Jesus meeting our needs. We had another tea and she asked, “Well, then, what must I do to be saved?” We knew it was the moment to pay the bill and head out to our Speed the Light van to pray.
As we prayed together in our van (squished in the front two seats because our luggage took up the back seat), with our windows fogged up from our tears and sincere prayer, faith came alive in Namah and Jesus saved her soul. He broke through all the sadness and light shone in her eyes. He was her hope! It was a miraculous experience.
All For His Glory
Our Speed the Light vehicle has seen one person come to Christ, brought 10 people to our house church, took countless people on excursions breaking down the barriers with love and adventure, carried Bibles and literature for evangelism, moved much luggage from apartment to new apartment, and is the partnership between the youth of our district and the unsaved in the Middle East. Thank God for Speed the Light!
